NATIONAL CARTOONISTS SOCIETY COMIC ART PORTFOLIO I-3 ARTIST PROOF #1/10 RARE

We are presenting for sale an original ARTIST PROOF #1/10 NATIONAL CARTOONISTS SOCIETY OF FINE COMIC ART PORTFOLIO VOLUMES 1, 2, and 3.

The art included in this portfolio is comprised exclusively of the “artist proofs” that were signed at the time of the creation of the NCS Portfolio in 1978.

Not every artist returned “artist proofs” and so only 10 sets were assembled of which this is #1 of ten.

The numbers do not match in any of the sets. The publisher has numbered the set on the reverse of every plate in pencil so each print in this “AP” set is so numbered to correspond to this letter. Some artists simply signed their name, others signed and designated an “ap”, others simply continued their numbering from the 1500 of the general edition and some added “ap” and a number to their signing.
