Kelly Freas was commissioned as a mission artist by Skylab I astronauts to design their crew patch.  The Skylab Expedition I patch was designed by Kelly and he wrote an article describing his experience of designing the patch “Skylab Patchwork”, which was published in Analog Science Fiction/Science Fact magazine.  The same composition was painted in detail and was issued as a limited edition print.

NASA was so pleased with the Skylab patch design that they asked Kelly to design six Apollo posters meant to inspire the nation to continue the exploration of space.   Kelly was a very big fan of the moon project and, at NASA’s invitation, witnessed several space launches at Cape Canaveral.

Kelly ultimately produced a set of six APOLLO posters.  The first ten of each poster went to the astronauts as gifts and a set of the posters have been archived in the Smithsonian.

Whether you are a space collector, a science fiction fan, a Kelly Freas fan or a combination of them all, this is a once in a life-time chance to add some amazing items to your collection.

We are presenting for sale an original KELLY FREAS mixed media APOLLO drawing entitled MISSION CONTROL.

Kelly hand signed the drawing at the bottom.

The drawing measures 13″ x 11″ and is in very good condition..
